Community Council Meeting Notes

In attendance: Jen Votava, Jeramie Chatfield, Libby Jacobsen, Liz Putnam, Amanda King and Randy Allred

  1.  Digital Safety Presentation - Alan Rhees
  • Web Filtering is iboss
  • WSD Policy on Social Media Filters
  • 40,000 Chromebooks are in the district and are being monitored
  • Child Internet Protection Act
  • Bark - Google management system used by WSD

Digital Literacy materials for teachers and students

  • Commonsense Media, 30 - 45 minute lessons in the Nearpod library for WSD teachers use
  • Blocksi - coming soon for teachers to better monitor student usage and control and enable sites being used for instructional purposes.
  • The Art of Screen Time and Digital for Good - two books WSD shared with our council.
  • Interland - internet resource that can be used at home by WSD students K - 6
  • NetSafe Utah 
  1.  Panorama School Climate Data

Shared current data gathered by our 3 - 6 grade students about their sense of belonging and teacher-student relationship.  

  • 78% of our students favorably responded to 4 teacher-student relationship questions.
  • 70% of our students favorably responded to 4 sense of belonging questions

School-wide Intervention shared - 2 x 10 support - 2 minutes, 10 days to build relationships with students in the building.
