Review of the history, purpose and responsibilities of the SCC and the LAND Trust Program.More information can be found online at https://trustlands.utah.gov/in-your-community/in-the-classroom/ All LAND Trust money must be spent on academic-related needs.
School safety needs (such as security cameras) are under discussion, and may be allowed in the future, but they are currently not something on which we can spend the LAND trust funds.
Review of 2018-2019 Land Trust Plan A copy of the current LAND trust plan was distributed and discussed.
Goal #1 75% of those who are identified as intensive on the beginning-of-year DIBELS rest will progress a minimum of one level (to strategic or benchmark) on the end-of-year test. Our actual improvement was 43%, using these guidelines. We are looking to amend this year’s plan to focus more on individual progress rather than sticking to the strict guidelines of the “intensive/strategic/benchmark” levels. (Imagine Learning is now available in Spanish (grades 1-2), in English (grades K-6)) (Chrome Books—One-to-One in the future, Teacher Readiness, and school equipment availability will determine which schools go one-to-one first)
Goal #2 75% of students will achieve 75% or better on the end of year math benchmark assessments
Last year 81% of the students achieved benchmark as defined by the classroom teachers on their year-end benchmark assessments.

Updates, concerns and needs for this new school year
The school fundraiser has gone well, and it’s on track to have about the same amount of money as in year’s past. Each teacher gets $75 per year for school-related expenses; each grade also gets about $7 per student for things like field trips. We discussed the possibility of having the option for parents to pay online—for things like fundraisers, fieldtrips, PTA t-shirts, etc. Randy Allred had a proposal for a way to get business funding into our school. He proposes we all approach businesses for baskets and donations and then do a silent auction for the school during the February Parent Teacher Conferences. Nichole Chatfield recommended we also have teachers involved, and think outside of the box for what the kids and parents can bid on. The idea would be to do something like this in the end of January/February time of year. Jennie Taylor is also a member of the PTA Executive Board, and she said she would talk to the PTA Presidents about working with the SCC to reach these financial goals. We do not want to have the SCC and the PTA unwittingly “competing” with each other, and we don’t want to have two organizations from our same school seeking donations and sponsorships from the same businesses. The best approach is to work together.
