Review of Minutes from October’s meeting
Chair: Liz Putnam, Vice Chair: Randy Allred
Review of guidelines and responsibilities for various members of the School Community Council (handout shared); roles vary for parent members, school employees, chair, etc.
State Literacy Goal can align with our school goal #1 (60% of K-3 students will make typical or above typical growth from Beginning of Year DIBELS assessments to End of Year DIBELS assessments
- Focusing on progress for students of all reading levels (“growth”—levels are typical, above typical, well-above typical, below typical, or well-below typical)
- The Council voted to align our reading goal with this state literacy goal
Review of appropriate Land Trust expenditures
- $3200 per hour for the school year to hire an aide
- Instead of spending money this year on the PLC summit training, it was proposed that the funds be spent on more aide time, especially for the classes that have the highest student-teacher ratio
Brief discussion of boundary proposals for the new school.
- The proposed boundaries will be given a second reading at the School Board meeting tomorrow night (5 December 2018)
- A few technicalities have been modified from what was presented at the Boundary Open House, but for the most part things are continuing as presented that night
- Majestic is likely to have about 700 students in the 2019-2020 school year
- Principal for the new school will be appointed in January
- Changes in administrations, in general, are usually announced in April for the following school year
