Community Council Minutes

October 28, 2020

The community council members were welcomed by Mrs. Copeland and thanks for their participation on the committee this year. Mrs. Copeland said that she would send important links to all members via email. Items discussed were:

The school districts internet protocol and safety procedures.

Mrs. Copeland receives weekly reports of chrome book usage, including student chrome books. Student chrome books have blocks put on by the district tech support to encourage viewing of appropriate sites.

The committee unanimously nominated and voted for Elizabeth Putnam as the chairperson for the school year 2020-2021.

The committee unanimously nominated and voted for Angie Francom as the Vice Chairperson for the school year 2020-2021.

The budget that is usually discussed at this time has been delayed until January of 2021.

Shauna Cooney, the school reading specialist, reviewed a powerpoint reflecting the current Dibels data for Majestic Elementary. This is available upon request.

There was discussion about the challenges that the scores reflected. The school purchased a new reading program called 95%. It has shown to be very effective in other schools and we hope for similar results this year, especially after the soft school closure of 2020.

Technology expenses this year include $70,000 for student chrome books.
