Majestic Elementary School
Community Council Minutes
Those in attendance: Jen Votava, Amanda King, Karen Eyre, Randy Allred, Shauna Cooney, Jennie Taylor, Melissa Copeland, Kariane Moore, Angie Francom, Nichole Chatfield, Liz Putnam
- Individual introductions were made.
- Nomination for this year’s chairperson was unanimous in favor of Amanda King. Karen Eyre will take notes.
- Mrs. Copeland reviewed the districts internet safety. Any WSD access used outside of school is reported to Mrs. Copeland. The district strictly monitors our district network.
- Future meetings were planned: October 22nd at 3:45; January 28th at 3:45; March 17th at 3:45.
- The March 17th meeting will be when the new community council plan will be due.
- Majestic Elementary will be a one-to-one school, meaning that each student will have access to individual chrome books, grades 1-6. The teachers will be trained toward Google Certification beginning in January of 2020. Student computer time will be monitored. Any questions, please email Melissa.
- The school plan for 2019-2020 was discussed. A copy of this plan is on the school web site.
- Details about current school plan include: 60% of K-3 students will make typical or above typical growth from BOY to EOY. Dibels progress monitoring is for Kindergarten to Sixth grade this year. Majestic Elementary made 66% growth last year, which surpasses our goal. Money has been allocated for aides to assist the Reading Specialist in reaching our yearly goal this year.
- Goal #2, 75% of students will achieve 75% or better on the end-of-year benchmarks. The data for this goal has not yet been reported. Professional Learning Communities meet weekly, by grade to collaborate together to identify essential learning targets per the Core Standards and produce assessments to show progress toward these learning targets.
